Resurrection strives to provide educational opportunities that will enhance the growth and development of all students. Courses of Studies prescribed by the Alabama State Department of Education provide the basic framework for the curriculum; however, we exceed their minimum requirements and goals. All students receive instruction in Religion, English (Literature/Reading and Grammar), Spelling, Math, Science, Social Studies, Vocabulary Enrichment, Physical Education, and Technology. Class schedules are adjusted appropriately to the age level of the students and approved by Cognia accreditation standards. Our textbooks follow diocesan-approved textbook lists. Primary and Intermediate grades are generally taught in self-contained classrooms. Middle school grades (6, 7, and 8) are departmentalized.
All students and teachers must attend and participate in all religious activities planned by various school classes. The religion program includes instruction in Catholicism, classroom prayer, and liturgical celebrations(Mass). The emphasis of the religious education program is placed on living out and practicing Christian principles. Additionally, per the Archdiocese requirements, your child MUST PASS the Religion course and all other core academic studies to be promoted.
Each day begins and ends with prayer. Teachers also start their classes throughout the day with prayer. Students must memorize and pray fundamental prayer in Catholic tradition.
